Getting psychic

Right in the heart of the Mission, near ATA and across from Herbivore, a sign that says Psychic Horizons stands over a doorway. You might not even notice it or you might just ignore it like you do the evangelical church down the street.

But if you're curious, every Tuesday night at 7:30, Psychic Horizons is open for a free introduction. I went last Tuesday to check it out (Full disclosure: I've been dragged by various friends to see psychics and invariably I'll be told something intriguing or ominous about my future and I'll start obsessing about it just a little, even when it seems ludicrous. My friends are generally amused by this.)

Anyway, I guess I was still curious enough to take a closer look. On some level, maybe I was thinking they'd teach us how to access our own psychic powers so we could read people's minds.

Psychic, ‘lottery’ are latest scams

♦Miss Elizabeth, Psychic, is sending letters to Hoosiers guaranteeing her services: "Every prophecy I reveal shall be 100% accurate. You will experience instant miracles. I will solve any problem in 36 hours. Your every prayer will be answered, your every wish granted, your every problem solved." Miss Elizabeth guarantees a 100 percent refund if not satisfied and claims to be "the world's most powerful spiritual and psychic adviser." She has the bureau's lowest rating.

♦Maximizer Health Products is advertising on TV offering a free week trial of their ExtenZe male enhancement product. When an Indianapolis woman ordered the product, she was asked for her bank account number to pay the $5.95 shipping and handling.
